With a constant influx of patients, it was becoming increasingly difficult for operation assistants to quickly find and transport patients to the right ward.

Real-Time Asset Tracking of stretchers based on BLE technology

This involved attaching a unique Bluetooth tag to each stretcher and installing multiple Bluetooth transmitters and receivers throughout the hospital. The RTLS system now enables staff to locate a stretcher with ease, simply by inputting the stretcher number into the computer. With this solution, indoor positioning and real-time asset tracking of the stretchers became a reality, streamlining the process of locating patients/equipment and improving the efficiency of hospital operations.

The impact of the RTLS implementation is substantial. Medical staff can locate stretchers faster, find patients more quickly, and reduce emergency response time. On average, the system saves staff 3 minutes per stretcher search, equating to 840 minutes saved per day based on an average of 280 person-times transported. This extra time allows staff to concentrate on clinical and hospital management, leading to improved patient care and treatment.
