About Ubudu
Hybrid RTLS experts. In location since 2011.
We locate assets and people with hybrid UWB and BLE, then turn each position into action on site: Pick-to-Light, alerts, webhooks and AI agents.
Trusted by manufacturers, logistics operators, hospitals, builders and retailers
Our expertise
One team, the whole location stack.
Radios and firmware, tags and anchors, the Location Engine and Spatial AI, all designed in-house and recognised with innovation awards worldwide.
The Ubudu team brings together experts in electronics, hardware, software, RF signal processing and mathematics. From the design of PCBs and IoT sensors to the positioning algorithms of the Location Engine and the applications people use every day, we cover location tracking and proximity detection end to end.

Our management team.
Experienced, international and multi-skilled, to ensure the success of every project.
What does “Ubudu” mean?
“Ubudu” does not mean anything in particular. When we started the company in 2011, we were looking for a short start-up name for which the domain was available and reasonably priced. François was just back from Bali, where the cultural capital is named “Ubud”, and that is how the word came into play. Although the company later shifted its business model, we kept the name for the almost perfect symmetry of its wording, which is also reflected in our logo.
What drives the team?
We are driven by:
- Client impact and the relevance of what we do
- Team and individual entrepreneurship
- Passion for engineering and technology
- Care and respect for people
What makes Ubudu different?
Our focused expertise in location-based services (LBS), especially indoors, spans hardware, RF and end-user software: UWB and BLE on our own devices, LoRa and GNSS on compatible partner devices. The platform is open: third-party hardware and your own software connect through REST, WebSocket, MQTT and webhooks.
By developing our hybrid RTLS platform, we give customers the ability to address different types of requirement simultaneously and to optimise their ROI by tailoring investment and deployment costs to each use case. The platform scales from small to large deployments and runs on your own servers or in our GDPR-compliant European cloud.
How is Ubudu financed?
Ubudu's R&D investment and ramp-up were financed by the co-founders and by private investors with strong, diversified backgrounds in technology, strategic consulting, finance and healthcare. Several of our investors play an active advisory role in our day-to-day activities, on top of our governance bodies.
The company was recently profitable and is financially healthy. During the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic, we showed real resilience and agility, launching our Social Distancing Assistant in record time to compensate for the sudden halt in on-site technology investment.
