Electronic Shelf Labels & Pick-to-Light
Put a live display on the item. BLE shelf labels update when their asset moves or changes status, and Pick-to-Light lights the one an operator needs.

Solution
Labels that update themselves
An electronic shelf label is an e-paper display on the item. Linked to your RTLS, it shows live information and refreshes on its own as work moves through the floor.

A live work order on every item
No more paper labels or manual updates. The label shows what the item is, where it is in the process and what happens next, and it changes the instant the asset does.
Automatic updates
When an asset moves or its status changes, its label updates. Nobody relabels by hand.
A work order at a glance
Show the order number, status, next operation and a warning when a part is blocked.
How it works
Driven by your RTLS platform
Each label is linked to an asset the RTLS locates. When that asset moves or changes status, your rules decide what the label shows and when its light blinks.

Rules turn location into label changes
Author a rule once and the floor reacts on its own: an asset enters a zone and its label shows the next operation; a tool leaves its area and an alert fires; a part is flagged non-compliant and everyone sees it on the item.
Rule engine
Change what a label shows, or raise an alert, when an asset enters a zone or changes status.
Reaches your systems
Label and location events reach your MES or ERP through the open API and webhooks.
Features
Key features
10,000 labels per gateway
One PDI label gateway serves up to 10,000 labels.
Your own templates
Set the layout for each label size and use.
Pick-to-Light
Select an item and its light blinks: on the tag, through the same installation, or on a label with an LED.
One rule, several actions
The same rule can update a label, light a tag and send an alert.
Rugged e-paper
Shock-protected displays from 2.6" to 12.2", in black, white and red.
Years of battery
Interchangeable batteries that last four to ten years, depending on the label.
Two label brands
PDI Digital and Minew, behind one interface.
Cloud or on-premise
On your own servers or in our GDPR-compliant European cloud.
Industries
Where it fits

Manufacturing & Logistics
Show live work-order status on the item and cut the time spent relabelling and searching.

Healthcare
Keep equipment identity and status readable on the device, wherever it ends up.

Construction
Show tool and material status on the item, in site stores and containers.

Quick-service restaurants
Keep equipment and back-of-house labels current without reprinting.
What is an electronic shelf label?
An ESL is an e-paper display that replaces a paper label. On the shop floor it shows live information (work order, status, next step) and updates itself instead of being reprinted.
How does the label know what to show?
Each label is linked to an asset in your RTLS. When that asset enters a zone or changes status, a rule sets what the label shows, and the label's own gateway sends the update. You need no separate API or manual step.
What is Pick-to-Light?
Pick-to-Light turns a location in the software into a light on the item. Select an asset and its tag lights up (on tags with an LED), with the command sent over BLE through the same installation that locates it. Shelf labels with an LED and push buttons do the same through their own gateway. The operator walks straight to the item, even on a full rack.
Which ESL hardware do you support?
Two providers, PDI Digital and Minew, behind one interface, in sizes from 2.6" to 12.2". Each brand uses its own label gateway.
Can it run on-premise?
Yes. It runs on your own servers or in Ubudu's GDPR-compliant cloud in Europe, with the same architecture, and sends events to your MES or ERP through the API and webhooks.
